summer 2026 musical announcement coming soon

2025 updates

We’ve gotten so many inquiries about this summer’s show that we thought it deserved an answer on the website.

And the answer is: There isn’t a Heart House show this summer. We’re doubtless more disappointed than any of you.

As you may not realize, the space we use for rehearsals and performances is part of Prince William County’s public spaces which can be reserved by PW residents for various uses. We have used the Theatre for our performances, usually sharing it with other theatre companies, and county operations. We tried to reserve space in the fall, hoping to put on “Little Shop of Horrors” as a fun event for Halloween, and we initially got the theatre. However, that timeline coincides with election season. Little by little, the Elections Board decided it needed more and more of our space for elections business, until finally so many days had been taken back that we just didn’t think we could produce a quality show in the little time left to us.

Trying to look at dates for a spring show proved even more impossible.

So here we are, with an empty summer, some very disappointed cast members, and a frustrated HHIP Board. What to do with this lemon? Make lemonade, of course.

And that’s how this summer became a time of planning and expansion. Our audiences and productions have grown with every year, and we have more plans for future programs, cabarets and classes on a year-round basis. All these exciting things need physical space, however. We need to find a permanent home for Heart House.

What would be ideal? In addition to a theatre, we need rehearsal space, preferably space which could double as performance space for a cabaret; office and meeting space which could also be used for classes; costume storage; a shop for stage construction; and space for prop storage.

It’s a big list, but we think it’s possible and would allow us to grow and realize some big plans for the future. We’re working with real estate agents and are constantly looking around. Unused office space, defunct shopping centers, vacated government buildings – all kinds of buildings could be turned into HHIP HQ! Local theatres have had success in repurposing all kinds of buildings; we just need to find one. And we’re on the hunt.

Meanwhile, we’re planning a show next summer, which will be announced shortly! We have a core of cast members who enjoy working together, have become friends over the years, and are always happy to welcome more actors to our ranks. This summer they have scattered into other nearby companies, but all hope to be back with HHIP next summer.

Come join us! Check back at the website often for news of winter shows and workshops, and be part of Heart House.

We loved SpongeBob. It was an amazing show with an amazing and very talented cast. I’ve never seen an episode of SpongeBob but still enjoyed every minute of the show. We ended up seeing it again the next day because we loved it so much. I also love that the cast was so inclusive. Everyone should be able to perform and shine and heart house did that.
